A car is a great investment, but with the convenience of having a vehicle come the inevitable repairs, tire changeovers, and routine maintenance required to keep it in working order. Now, patrons could potentially pay an arm and a leg to have the work done downtown, or they can stop by the Auto Hobby Shop to do it themselves or have the trained staff give them a hand at a rate substantially less than can be found off base.

Our Trained Staff

Those who dive into a project but find they have gotten in over their competency level, can always turn to the four ASE certified technicians who are on hand to offer advice, explain technical procedures, and do everything else over the shoulder short of the work themselves. If a person finds that he has reached the point of no return on a project, he can even sign the vehicle over to the center and have the work completed for a fee.

Resources

Regardless of who performs the work on a vehicle, the facility has all the tools necessary to complete any job, including roll out toolboxes with a full range of basic tools, air impact tools, electrical tools, and a full array of specialty tools that can be checked out as needed.  In addition to have such a wide array of resources to work with, the shop also has an EPA approved high temperature and high distillation antifreeze recycling machine. The machine, which can recycle as much as 55 gallons of antifreeze per cycle, process the antifreeze until only the glycol of the original material remains. The center staff then mixes the glycol with on hand chemicals to create recycled antifreeze that is actually superior to that of what can be purchased new in stores.

Do it Yourself

The Auto Hobby Shop is available for the do-it-yourselfer, but also offers full-line, custom automotive maintenance and repair.  In addition to repair and maintenance service, the shop provides towing, unlocking and machine shop services.  Do-it-yourself customers have the use of 21 flat stalls, six lift stalls, two RV stalls, a wash stall and a welding stall.  The Auto Crafts Shop stocks basic automotive parts and provides a parts delivery service in cooperation with several local vendors.  The shop accepts used oil and antifreeze for recycling.  Contact the Auto Shop at 552-3473.
