

The 3rd FSS offers two excellent dining facilities, the Kenai and the Iditarod Dining Facilities open to all active duty enlisted military and military retirees. The Kenai Flight Kitchen provides Flight and Ground Support meals.

The 3rd FSS dining facilities have won many PACAF Food Service Excellence awards. Most recently, they were recognized with the John L. Hennessy Award for years 2000, 2001, and 2003.

Authorized Patrons
The Iditarod Dining Facility is open to all active duty enlisted military and military retirees. Dependents are also authorized to use these facilities when the military sponsor is residing in a Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) prior to departing or after arriving at Elmendorf. Commanders are authorized to use the dining halls occasionally for the purpose of checking food quality. Civilians are not authorized to use these facilities unless a temporary waiver to policy is approved by the 3rd Wing Commander.
The Kenai Flight Kitchen provides flight meals to aircrew (officer and enlisted) departing Elmendorf and passengers (officer, enlisted, retiree and dependents) on these aircraft. Ground support box meals are also available for enlisted personnel unable to eat at the dining halls due to working conditions. Civilians are not authorized to use this facility unless a waiver to policy is approved by the 3rd Wing Commander.
Menus
The Iditarod Dining Facility uses the worldwide fourteen day rotating menu. Locally approved changes are often made to better meet the needs and tastes of our customers. To find out what we are serving today go to the Top Cover base web page. "Menus are subject to change."
The Kenai Flight Kitchen offers a choice of 11 types of flight meals, 8 flight snacks and 16 Ground Support box meals to our authorized customers.
Carry Out Meals
The Iditarod Dining Facility has a hot carryout meal service available to authorized customers. Customers cannot pick up meals for individuals other than themselves, however, multiple carryout box meal service is available at the Kenai Flight Kitchen. ‘Grab and Go’ sandwich box meals are also available.

Contractor Support
M.C. Resources Management provides our Mess Attendant NISH Contract Services. The friendly employees are the best in the Air Force and played a large part in winning our consecutive 2000, 2001, and 2003 Hennessy Food Service Trophy.
Dining Facility Improvement Council
This council provides input to food service management on how well the facilities meet the needs of the customers. Although primarily steered toward our meal card customers in the dormitory, other customers are welcome to attend
